About Labbox

From consuming technology to creating it.

Labbox exists because kids learn best when they build with their hands, break things safely, try again, and see real outcomes. That was true in our classrooms; it's truer at a kitchen table.

Two sisters, thousands of students

Labbox was founded by Arta and Fiona Shehu — computer science engineers who taught thousands of students through jCoders Academy before designing a single block. The product came out of the classroom: the moment learning "clicks" is the moment something real lights up, and the whole system is engineered to make that moment cheap to reach and safe to miss.

The mission, verbatim: make real electronics accessible, exciting, and empowering for every child. The vision: a generation of creators who understand how technology works.

Co-developed with Hape

A world-renowned toy maker as a partner

Hape Holding AG — one of the world's largest educational toy makers — co-developed Reactor Rescue with us and backs the line's manufacturing quality. Their legacy of quality play plus our approach to electronics education is the whole point of the partnership: families get something that is both a real toy and a real teacher.

The Kickstarter told us the idea lands: €190,618 pledged against a €5,000 goal — 3,812% — from 2,200 backers, with Kickstarter's "Project We Love" badge.

Safety & quality, by design

Protected componentsA wrong circuit doesn't break anything. Being wrong is part of the curriculum.
Magnetic connectorsMagnets pull blocks together the right way round. No pins, no soldering.
Polarity marksEvery block shows its plus and minus — the convention taught, not hidden.
Mistake indicatorsThe system shows where a build went wrong, so debugging is learnable.
